Whiskers Catfish Farm provides our customers with the best pond fishing possible through stocking high quality farm-raised fish and using the best management and delivery practices.
Our fish are the highest quality, farm-raised, genetically selected and far superior to wild fish. We sell several different species, see below:
Prices vary depending on the species and the size of the fish. * Fish available at county fish sales vary by seasonal availability, size and price.
Channel Catfish are excellent food and sportfish and do well in most ponds. They do not overpopulate and are primarily scavenger and live on the pond bottom.
Sizes from 4" ($0.25 each ) to 10lbs ($3.5`0 per lb)*
Largemouth Bass are the sportfish most commonly stocked in Southeastern Ponds. They can grow up to eight pounds in large ponds; however their growth is limited by the food supply. They primarily eat minnows, bluegill or shellcracker to keep them growing.
Sizes from 2" ($0.80 each) to 3lbs ($14.00 per lb)*
Grass carp are used for pond algae and weed control. They eat the vegetation and clean up the ponds. They usually live about 10 - 20 years and can grow to over 30 pounds. Recommended stocking rate is from 25 - 60 per surface acre depending on the type and amount of vegetation. Grass Carp are most effective the first 5 - 7 years. Annual stocking may be needed to maintain control of pond vegetation.
Sizes from 10" - 13" ($12.00 each)
Black Crappie are gamefish generally stocked in lakes. They often grow to two pounds plus. They can be difficult to manage in small ponds. They eat primarily small fish.
Sizes from 2" ($0.60 each) to 4" ($1.50 each)*
Coppernose Bluegill supply an excellent forage fish for bass and are an excellent food fish. They can reach about one to two pounds each. You cannot grow large bass without a good bluegill population.
Sizes from 1" ($0.25 each) to 7" ($2.00 each)*
Redear Sunfish stocked in combination with bluegills best utilize the resources of a pond. They live in a little deeper water than bluegill and eat a little different diet. The Kentucky State record is 3lbs 1oz. from a farm pond.
Sizes from 2" ($0.40 each) to 4" ($1.25 each)*
Koi are ornamental fish and colorful members of the carp family. Fin, scale and color patterns vary. They are often stocked in decorative ponds. We also sell potted lily pad plants to enhance your Koi ponds.
Sizes from 5" ($5.00 each) to 15" ($40.00 each)*
The Gambusia or Mosquito Fish eats the larvae of mosquitos. We sell them to help keep mosquito populations down. These fish are native to Kentucky and Tennessee.
